slant fin boiler?

i have an old slant fin boiler that heats both hot water for regular use and heating .the heating sides zone valve is letting through some heat and i want to drain that part of the boiler for the summer and still get my regular hot water .will running the boiler with that part drained hurt anything

you can't drain one side. it's the same water that heats the rads and hot water.
you'll have to fix the faulty zone valve.
