I was just given a Curtis portable DVD player, model DV8723. I tried to use it on a trip yesterday and had problems with it. It would play for a bit then freeze up. We tried this with numerous DVD's. Any ideas on how to fix it? I really don't want to exchange it if possible.

I have the exactly same player and it's doing exactly the same thing. After spending a lot of my time checking out all I possibly can on this thing, I have put it where it belongs. In the garbage because, unfortunately, the overall design, especially the closing mechanizm style, is really lousy and it turns out that that's pretty much what the whole thing is. Garbage. Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful but I wouldn't waste my time on it if I were you and if you can get your money back or get rid of it that would be the best thing to do.
