Thank you soooo much! We were about to buy a new washing mashine, and after cleaning this little bottle, it's working perfectly fine again!!!

I also had a problem with my mashine not going into full spin. Having changed the brushes a couple of weeks ago i knew it was'nt that, so tried taking the vacuum chamber off for a clean. I found the chamber to be quite clear but the rubber socket i pulled it out of was full of grey sludge. This was easily cleaned out with a pipe cleaner. The whole job takes about ten minutes. I dread to think how much I would have paid for an engineer! Thanks Little miss fixaru!!

Little miss fixaru, thank you!
Did the wee vaccum tube clean and it seems to work so far. Loads of dark brown gunk trapped in there, like clay. Job took about 40 minutes, and definitely earier than changing the bushes, which I did not fancy trying to explain at the hardware store in Danish.

Hi, I expect your carbon brushes need replacing on the motor, the same happened to mine and i thought i would have a go at fixing it myself rather than pay an engineer a call out charge. disconnect it from the mains, take the back off the machine and remove to two bolts holding the engine in place, and disconnect the motor supply. Lift the engine out and disconnect the brushes and remove from the motor (make a note of which way round they are, because they will go back either way). Check over the bushes, if they dont spring out very far than its probably the problem, they are a good inch in length when new. hope this helps

I had exactly the same problem, i.e would not spin. Here in New Zealand, no agents. So i thought it worth while having a go. It worked, so many thanks for posting.

It can also be the brushes on the motor. I had my brushes and motor replaced after four years, because the brushes had worn out, and they'd also worn a fair amount of the copper away - the engineer said if he put new brushes on, the motor would then fail before them, so he replaced both.

Dunno if he was telling the truth, though :-)

Hi, i had the same problem, i found the answer on this site. Im guessing you have a new machine by now, but for anyone else with the problem, heres my answer. There is a wee vacuum chamber at the back of the machine inside the cover, if it gets dirty and blocked the machine doesnt get the message to spin, so you need to detach it and give it a thorough clean, just an hour should do the job. You'll need screwdrivers, cross type and some torque keys as there are torque screws to come out. Pay attention to which go where.Turn off power, remove back plate, and supports. This wee gizmo looks like a white plastic bottle, about 3 or 4 inches long, attached to a black pipe at one end. sits beside the red 3 legged "spider", just below half way down and is attached top and bottom, top a wee plastic black hose and at the bottom it has a bent anglular bit that just slides into a hole. Disconnect the white plastic bottle vacuum bottle and give it a really good clean. Reattach the same way, you'll see its quite straight forward. Be careful not to lose you screws and torque screws. I hope this helped and had clear directions. Happy spinning!! :-)
