I have found that you can actually unscrew the case and remove it without everything falling out at you. Just MAKE SURE IT'S UNPLUGGED!!!!!
You can pull an awful lot out without having to remove any gears or anything. I also blew it out with the air compressor, but be ready for a dust storm.
* Only do this if there is no chance of a warrantee being ruined. It's not worth losing that.
