Asko front loader washer 10505 will not spin?

ASKO 10505- will not spin. fill, drains, etc ok. how big of a hassle is it to change the belt?? or is this even likely the problem. massive pain to move from where it is installed, so only one to do it once.

Check the coin trap. We tried everything and were on the verge of tossing it out. Checked the coin trap and found a large button battery and one button. Did the trick.

1. Does the drum turn fairly easily by hand?

No: Motor or drum bearings seized/object jamming drum
Yes: Listen for motor turning (brushes making noise on commutator)

Motor turns? Belt is at least marginally OK. Motor doesn't turn: Belt is bad (if off of pulleys but intact, replace it anyway.)

The Asko motors are often high speed brush motors. Replace brushes in sets if worn out. Commutator should be clean and light brown, no pits or burning. Commutator MUST be perfectly round, or brush skipping, sparks and commutato burning will occur! Pits, grooving, flat spots on the commutator require commutaator stoning. Apparently Asko advises light commutator stoning at brush replacement, but only do this if the commutator has defects as above. Failing that, replace the motor if it gives troube. (gulp!)

Check out applianceguru.com more than likely a brush or brushes worn out about 30.00-35.00. Forum has a great deal of people with the same issue.
