Cold water fills very slowly?

Old, Kenmore Heavy Duty 60 washer - exact model number unknown. Cold water trickles in very slowly for any fill or rinse operation - can take an hour, literally. Hot water works fine. Checked hose and there is nothing constricting that. Suspect it might be some kind of switch but don't know how to get at it or how to check it once I find it.

It's likely to that water fill valve (solenoid switch) that needs to be replaced. It's located where the inlet hoses attach to the back of the washer.

Hello Pat,
Take off the cold water hose from the back of the machine and you should see a small plastic filter in the washing machine part, pull it out and discard it, if that does not work then chances are you have low water pressure, MAKE SURE YOU TURN THE WATER OFF TO THE MACHINE BEFOR YOU UNDO THE HOSE ! you will get some water coming out of the hose when you take it off so put a bowl on the floor.
