I know its an Old thread, but thanks very much Dan, just applied your fix, changed the 3 capacitors and its fixed :-) feeling very pleased as the electrical repair said it was a scrap set but they could take it away for free.. seemed ashame to chuck it away without looking on the internet.. BIG UP for Dan... Cheers

check that the panel/monitor is receiving a viable signal.....if this panel does not receive an input then it will go into standby mode....the flashing red light indicating no input

2663, 2664 (both 100µ/50v) and 2662 (1000µ/25V).seems abit strange as ive had this from NEW im trying to works this out oh and ive still got the same problem

I have fixed three different sets - all exactly the same model - by changing these 3 capacitors, it has worked every time. This is a well known fault check Fixya.com . thanks Dan

Dan, September 2007
i dout any of the above will cure the fault i repair these plasmas and it is not just three caps as mentioned, unless you were born very lucky

and just to add - when you solder the new ones in , note there is a stripe on the capacitor - make sure this is facing downwards - examine the old ones before removal.

Dan, September 2007
oops !! - sorry I meant top left of the middle circuit board ( the power supply ) Dan

Dan Weaver, September 2007
I had the exact same problem - This is the solution:
The problem is three faulty capacitors which are easily found when you take off the back of the tv. unscrew the middle board and look at the top right hand corner and you will see one capicitor clearly numbered 2662 (1000µ/25V) and two smaller ones 2663, 2664 (both 100µ/25V.) - go to your local Maplin or equivilent and they supply these 3 capacitors for about 65p! solder them in and youre fixed !

Dan Weaver, September 2007
try unpluging the set 10 minutes - plug it back in & see if it works.

Hi.
Sorry to say but it will definately need to go to a shop for repair.
This set is very complicated & will need philips compair unit to help diagnose.
