I have the Hoover Fusion Cyclonic Filtration System, Model U5180-900?

I have the Hoover Fusion Cyclonic Filtration System, Model U5180-900. I haven't had it for very long, but I live out in the boonies, so it's in my interest to fix it on my own and not bring it to a repair man.
All of the sudden, it started (just about every time) blowing forwards clouds of dust upon turning the machine on. It also seems to do it after it has been on for a wihle but while running over a significant amount of dust. I've taken the whole vacuum apart, and am now fearing I may have bit off more than I can chew. Can someone please tell me how to remedy this problem on my own?

Filters, filters, filters. The bagless machines rely on them to keep dust out of the motor, and out of the exhaust air. I think there are a couple of foam filters on that model. They should be cleaned after every time you use the machine. Also, if you are using the carpet fresh powder or equivelent, don't expect the this Hoover to last long. It will kill it faster than enything else. I had one come in, less than a year old, with a motor bearing that had been destroyed by the fine powder being fed to the machine. You will know it's time when the motor vibrates the machine badly, and makes terrible noise.
