After setting wash programme the message "close door" comes up with beeping sound, even though the door is closed. It won't go away despite closing door carefully, banging it shut or thudding it in various places when closed. This prevents the machine from starting. I have turned the machine off and then on again. Hotpoint Ultima 1000 model.
Thank you Phil Grimshaw for your reply. The repair man came out and replaced the lock and a wire piece around the door, which heats up to lock the door, and cools down to release the catch.
