How can I fix my motor on my hedge trimmer?

I have a Black & Decker HT2000 Type 1 20" hedge trimmer.
The last time I used it all of a sudden it slowed way down to where it would hardly cut. I stopped my use and went home. When I tried it at home it still was slow and then it just stopped. Now when I try to start it it stops immediately if it starts at all. What could be the problem?

If the motor is trying to turn but won't , the fault could be something to do with stiff resistance from the cutter bars and their crank at the base of the motor housing. This should be disassembled and thoroughly greased. See if you can turn the motor over by hand at this stage, but don't apply any power.
While you are at it check the brushes on the commutator, these may be worn and are easy to replace. Reassemble the whole lot and test same. If the copper windings on the motor coil are burnt through it is not practical to repair the machine
