How can I fix my Hoover Windtunnel ?

My model U5446-940 windtunnel leaves deep comb marks in a fairly plush smooth carget. It also pushes and pulls harder than usual. It seems to grab the carpet and has a strong vacuum. The height adjustment is on the highest setting. I've cleaned the passages, put in a new Hoover type Y filter and belt. I'm considering getting a new agitator roll brush. What should I do?

Mine did this when the primary (wide flat) drive belt wore out. When I replaced it, it stopped "sucking down". I believe the self-propel, which runs off this belt, was not getting enough "oomph" to pull the vacuum properly. Hope this helps someone...

Thanks for your comment nicclean. Yes the wheel assembly that controls height is there and looks OK. I'm considering adding a layer or two of duct tape to the slider so as to increase the height. Or maybe I could just add the tape to the wheel circumference to also increase the height. Kind of Mickey Mouse but might work.

Is the front wheel assembly still on the vac? Located under the base, it is a clear or black plastic with an axle and two wheels. It is directly controlled by the slider for the height. If it is missing, the base will go straight to the floor. I have seen many come to me with this part missing.
