My machine keeps turning off on its own. It will turn on and just power down within minutes.

Mine plays all discs fine,but no longer records on any blank discs at all. I was told that the recording laser is off line. The only repair shop in my area is charging $75 just to look at it.

I am having the same problem as you are and I don't understand it. It was working before then all of a sudden it says can not record on this disk.
