Matt, have you had any luck in finding the files yet? There is a flash updater thingy on RCA's website, but I can't seem to get it working on my wife's h115. The hard drive is corrupted all right... there's files on there, but deleting or adding new ones lets it happen in my compact flash reader but after taking it out and putting it back in the reader all changes are gone. I tried to buy a cheap compact flash from wal-mart a few weeks back and got it to format in windows, and got to where the mp3 player did recognize it as external drive almost, but since there was a corrupt or nonexistant os in the mp3 player I couldn't figure out how to fix it... and that flash updater deally bopper kept saying that file was in use by another program and asked me to shut off other program, but I couldn't figure out what the heck it was talking about since the only program up at the time was windows explorer... shutting down explorer didn't even let the updater deally program work it's magic since that error came up later... If you do find a solution, please post it. This really p*sses me off since my wife's mp3 player crapped out about 1 week after the warrantee was up!!!....

Hundreds (if not thousands of people are having this problem with RCA MP3 players that use hitachi microdrives. The only option you have is to get RCA to replace it.

If you only want to use it as an external memory, you can call Hitachi and get them to replace the bad hard drive.

I'm working on getting the proper file system from RCA so I can repair mine and possibly others broken RCA HDD MP3 players.
