Hot water problems, cylinder not getting hot?

I have a back boiler heated vented system, there is central heating but no hot water after i flushed the sediment out of the header tank. the hot water is rising from the back boiler but doesn't seem to be entering the cylinder. There is water coming out of the hot tap but it's cold and as far as i can see there is no valves or pumps coming in or out of the cylinder, any help would be appreciated as i'm scratching my head.

Hi, well the hot water is lovely and clean and hot now,, but the central heating has stopped working,,, i've had a few problems with it in the past with soot getting into the safety cut off sensor but i've sorted that and there is still no heating, i'm almost ready to pull my hair out and get a combi boiler but thats just pure money so has anyone got any idea if sorting the water out would affect the boiler turning on to give heating??

Hi, well the hot water is now hot again on its own, but the reason i drained the whole system in the first place was because i had yellow hot water, the water that was coming out was clear after i had drained it down a few times but now the hot water is working again the water is again yellow, i'm presuming there is a build up of sediment in the tank because all the sediment in the header tank was flushed away, i will try draining it down a few more times and see what happens.

If you emptied the system, then refilled, you could have air
trapped at cylinder. You will see two pipes verticly in line
with each other. one about three inches from bottom the other about eight inches above that . carefully loosen top nut off,
a few threads NOT ALL THE WAY or you will get a bath, waggle pipe see if air comes out, if it does bleed till water appears, tighten back up should solve it other thing could be zone valve stuck if fitted.
good luck
