my pc won't recognise my pen drive?

my pendrive works fine on other pc's but not on mine. although the usb port wks allright with other devices. so what is it with the pendrive?

Or in your case your friends is XP and you are Windows 98.....

Most important of all what are the operating systems of both pc's (XP. ME, Windows 200 etc) - without that its difficult to answer. If your machine is XP and friends Windows 98 or even W2000 you will have to add the drivers (have you a disk?) - if your machine is XP the drivers will already be on your machine which is why the pen drive is recognised.
