My silver slimline ps2 recently suffered some discreader problems and would not read discs of any kind, my dad cleaned the lense to it best and it will now play ps1 games again but it still wont play dvd's or ps2 games which comprises of most of my collection and help greatly appreciated.

Hi! Firstly, make sure that all the cd's are original,the lense is very sensitive, therefore if the cd's aren't originals, the lense won't read them. If all of them are orginal try to clean them very carefully with a clean and dry cloth.
