I changed the immersion heater, turned off the water in the loft ( held up the ball**** ) then turned on the taps to empty the tank.
The tank did not empty
when i released the ball**** i now have no water in the hot taps?

When you cut the water off (holding up ballcock) and open a hot tap, you only draw off whats in the pipe comming off the top of the cylender. You need to use the drainvalve usualy round the base of the cylender somewere.

By the sounds of it youve got yourself an airlock in the pipe now. best get a hose, attach it from a mains tap (prob cold at kitchen) and open them both to blow water back up the hot pipe + remove the airlock.

airlock in hot water pipe from cylinder to tap.

>then turned on the taps to empty the tank.
The tank did not empty

so how did you get the immersion out then ?
