Thetford toilet flush starts up on its own and will not stop?

Thetford casette type.

Flush starts up on its own and will not stop unless mains turned off.Large control wheel springs back up ok and also appears to open the manual valve ok.

Control valve is on the left next to the seat when viwed standing looking towards the loo.Toilet roll holder is on the right.

The loo should flush when the control is depressed. Have you tried gently pulling the control wheel upwards incase it has got jammed down. If this doesn't work you need to get to the microswitch the control wheel operates to see it its jammed or broken.

Dave, October 2007
Rotating the large control wheel should open and shut the blade valve to the cassette. To flush the unit you should press this control wheel downwards. It may have got stuck down if something has fallen on the contol wheel so try gently pulling it back up. If this doesn't work you will have to remove the cassette and locate the microswitch which is at the bottom of the control wheel assembly.
