My washer won't spin at all, it just stoped all at once. Is this something i Can fix myself?

I have a Whirlpool Supreme that has the same problem and the repairman told me the clutch is bad. Also, he said the machine is too old (1985) and the part is hard to get and is not worth been repaired. The washer looks new and has not been used for several years.
