This indicates that the system is basically expecting a bootable floppy disk, in which case insert a disk to boot to the A:> prompt.
You may have to go into the BIOS to see if the FLOPPY DISK function has been set - if this is set, it should allow booting from a floppy disk.
The reason why it may show that is because the hard disk doesn't have the system files on it in order for it to boot to the C:>prompt
These files are the IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, COMMAND.COM, AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS
If you can obtain a bootable disk, insert it which should boot to the A:> prompt
If you have the FORMAT command and SYS commands on it and FDISK commands, type this
FDISK, which will partition the hard disk, reboot the system using the floppy disk
type FORMAT C: /C /S this will format the hard disk and place the system files on it which will then make the hard disk a bootable disk.
Depending on the operating system that you put on the hard disk, if you go into to the BIOS, you can alter the boot sequence to allow you to boot from a CD which contains the opertating system that you want to install which will make a bootable system.
