Canon PIXMA MP 130/110 won't print colour correctly?

My Canon PIXMA 130/110 prints black text fine, but colour copies have vertical lines across them and red, or magenta, seems to be absent. Details comes out in black and green.
Sometimes the first inch of the print looks normal, then the copy degenerates into black and white, with a greensihs tinge and vertical greenish lines.

Looks like either the Printhead(Black container Grey BCI-21 ink tanks fit in) is faulty, new ones can be purchased but befor doing this lift leaver on carridge and check contacts on side they should be brass couloured if not try cleaning them with some alcohole then wait 20-40sec refit and run cleaning program.
