When I try to record a movie onto a dvd-r everything runs smoothly until it gets to the finalizing part and that is when the recorder just "freezes" like. I want to know if its possible to go back in and finalize the disc so it can play on my dvd player rather than waste disc after disc trying to get it to work?

I was having the same problem with Nero Burning Rom SE. I then tried another program from my desktop, Nero StartSmart. Now all the dvd discs, Memorex SONY Verbatim DVD-R, work on my Panasonic and Samsung home DVD players. Nero Burning Rom SE has the finalize option greyed out where I am unable to change the setting. Nero StartSmart finalizes the dvd automatically.

if nero isnt letting you finalize just put a random file to be burned but make sure in the settings just to finalize and not write (so the file you added to burn won't get put on the dvd) and the dvd will finalize itself and you will have access to all the files you burned b4 finalizing

tried your nero solution to this problem as i am having similar

but when i check everything except the finalize it doesnt let me click burn, the button turns into an ok button which just exits to the compilation main section

it only says burn if i have the Write option checked

i have seen several softwares out there that have a finalize disk option like roxio easy cd/dvd creator

that could work

anyone else got a nero solution that works with nero 7

okay go into nero and where it says burn cd, keep going through until you get to the spot where it has the check marks for options like simulate, burn data, etc. Uncheck all of them except for finalize and click burn and it will finalize your dvd.

I haven't got a answer but I have the same problem. my DVD is a Pioneer 110. DVD Pictureshow spends hours processing and encoding and then freezes in the finalizing stage. Nero 6 does the same.
