I have a Maytag Performa Washer Model PAVT234AWW stopped on spinning cycle?

My Washing machine "Maytag Perform" Model PAVT234AWW stopped on the spin cycle, due to overload. Once I removed all items and scooped out all water it still won't turn or work on any cycle selected. Is there a belt or something I need to check?

Just found out the thing that I thought was the transmission was only the water pump, there is an access panel on the back of the washer. It was easy to remove and was only around $80. for a new one. These washers have warranty's on the transmission and motor only and that's parts only too. If those go out you have to use maytag's people to install it for your warranty. But if I were you, check your water pump, see if the round pully moves freely. It's the cheapest one, besides the belt if your lucky enough to just have that go out. Best of luck to you.

I have the same washer and the same problem. I just ordered the belt and found out the belt is fine. To check your belt tilt the washer back, you should be able to see your belt. If your belts ok, try spinning the transmission part by hand which is far back right.(unplug first!) This is what's the problem with mine, the gear looking thing is broken. I'm still trying to figure out how to open my top cover so I can get to it.
