Out of alignment Frister Rossmann 906?

I have a rather old sewing machine but it's as tough as old boots. However the needle is now hitting onto the plate below when it sews. Causing the needles to bend and scrath into the plate. I assume the part that holds the needle is out of alignment very slightly. How can i adust this myself. Thank you.

Hello Michelle,
It won't be the needle bar that is out of alignment it will be the timing, you can do this yourself but you will have to have a lot of patience because you may not get it right first time, if you want me to tell you how to do it, e-mail me drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk and I will type up full instructions for you.
