how do i check the pick ups on my guitar?

i use a epiphone ste170, there is no sound coming from it, i have checked all the switches and volume controlls, i just dont know how to check if the pick ups are working

Easiest way, if you know that everything else is working ok is to plug guitar into amp, turn volume up on guitar (and ap a bit on amp) and tap each pickup in turn with the metal end of a screwdriver as you switch between the pickups via the selector switch and make sure you can hear a clunking noise from each pickup - if they cunk, they are working.
