What could be the cause of my Zanussi washing machine jumping violently?

What could be the cause of my Zanussi washing machine jumping violently? This is an intermittent fault and does not seem to be caused by an uneven load. It usually occurs at the beginning of the cycle and results in the programme selection dial turning quicker than normal, without actually carrying out the washing function. If I switch the machine off and reset the dial the machine usually functions OK but it can happen again a few washes later.

it could also be the tacho magnet, this is at the far end of the belt armature of the motor. there is a cap with two yellow wires, take it off and check if the little round magnet is
a-------in its position, ie screwed in tight and
b-------not damaged!
also there should be no damage to the wires, these lead to the on-board computer...

how old is your machine. It needs a new belt replacement as they tend to get elastically (worn out)and will mostly do this on bigger and heavy loads because the stress is to much for the belt to handle and therefore will start to bounce all over the place and go off center.
