resetting bmw alarm key fob?

i have a bmw 318is 1995 and the battery has gone in the alarm control key fob ( black and grey one button) i've put new batteries in one and it is flashing but not opening or closing the car. I think it needs resetting. is there a sequence for doing this??? Appreciate any help!

It is often cheaper to have the old alarm removed and a new up to date system fitted with its own parts warranty as you never know what else is about to go wrong with your old unit. This is especially so if you only have one of the original fobs and you fancy a spare.

Dave you have to go to a bmw garage, they have a special resetting tool. It only takes 5 minutes.
