How can I fix belt onto dyson DC04?

The instruction manual says to put the belt on the brush first then attach to the metal rod, it seems impossible without causing injury to fingers. I have also tried fixing it onto the rod first but then the belt won't stretch again without using incrediable force. What am I doing wrong please help?

I also have the same problem, what a bad design, I have just spent the last hour trying to change the belt after just putting one on 2 days ago with no success my fingers are sore not to mention the cost of the belts, looks like a new hoover.
After all my hard work and still no success feel like wrapping it around dysons neck

Hi.

Your not doing anything wrong.
Try putting over brush first then use flat bladed screwdriver to pull belt over the shaft, DONT STAB THE BELT WITH SCREWDRIVER.
