my daughters had the same problem, a clean out with the hoover and some extra ram to stop the harddrive working overtime sorted it out, its two and a half years old and I just put windows 7 on it not a problem. as for power supplies the M/b I had was a standrad foxconn son a 30 quid standard case should have sorted that out try SCAN.CO.UK at Bolton

i had the same problem after a while of buying it, it started to shut down all the time now the comouter desktop has a safty shut down tempriture of about 80-90 degreas and so if the fan gets cloged up with dust it has trouble spining at full speed and this causes the computer to shut down at a high tempriture, all you do is hoover it out ever month and it will be perfect

Probably the power supply. Mine's just done the same thing. It would crash, then would only restart if you turned the power off and on at the wall, before crashing again a few minutes later. I tried replacing the battery on the motherboard, which helped. But it eventually crashed for good and there's that distinctive electrical smell at the power supply. Unfortunately the power supply doesn't appear to be a generally available model - a Channel Well PSP-525PP - so it might be scrap after just 2 years.

I have the same problem where the bottom of the laptop gets incrediably hot.I know it's due to a clog or something in the fan but with iqon laptops i don't think theres a way to open it up in order to get the fan.
I would ask a professonal at pc world or someone but it costs money just to give them your laptop but unless your willing to pay alot of money i think it would be best you go to pc world or somewhere like that.

It sounds like its overheating mabye theres trouble with the fan

colin savage, February 2008
unless you've deleted it, all icon pcs have a recovery partition on the hard drive which can be accessed by pressing F10 on boot up. This will restore it back to the condition it was in when purchased
