maytag washer won't process through the cycles?

I have a maytag washer Model #LAT9606AAE the dial goes around like the cycles are complete but never goes past agitate with the intial water. I can make it spin if I manually set the dial to spin

Hi Candy,

with repairs I have done in Australia on similar machines that use turn dial selectors (analogue, not computerised) the fault is most likely the timer device or the I.D (forward / Reversing unit - this is responsible for moving the agitator forward reverse in wash cycle.

to make sure (I.D) is working fill your machine without any smelly socks and once filled listen for the forward reverse motion of your agitator if you here it spinning around like a mixing bowl with a flopped cake recipe then the Forward / Reversing unit maybe damaged or timer failure (internal contacts are dirty or worse).

if the motion is heard to be correct when its in the wash cycle then most likely the timer is at fault.

take care hope Ive been some help

If you select on that machine either Regular / Easycare / Delicates or handwashable and all fail to progress
