my aiwa cx naio won't play a writable cd. Any fix?

My AIWA CX NAIO won't play a writable CD. Any ideas how to fix it. An adapter perhaps?

Not all CD players recognize home made cds because they sometimes are not as shiny as commercial cds. If your unit works on every other cd but not writables, this might be one of 2 things:

1. Your laser is weak or dusty.

2. CDR discs are easier to read than CDRW discs. The CDR disc is shinier than the CDRW disc and thus easier for your laser to pick up. Newer units are designed not to have this limitation.
