PIR lighting query?

My parents currently have an independent PIR that switches a light in the porch, this has stopped working but the light works fine, I am therefore assuming that the PIR has died! I want to replace the PIR but I would also like this to switch a second light at the same time which will be outside, is this OK to do?

Hi Scott. The answer is yes but only to a certain degree! First of all you need to make sure what the “Total loading” of the “PIR” is this usually is about 1000w (maybe printed inside PIR unit or ask shop 1st) and secondly what kind of lighting are you going to be switching? Flood lights, MH lighting or just normal lantern type light with a BC or ES type bulb? The reason I say this is because some PIR units don’t like switching some types of lighting! Just enquire when you buy a new PIR at the shop. Hope this helps.
