How can I fix my kitchen light?

I put 20watt halogen bulbs into my kitchen light but they should have been 5watt. Inevitably the lights blew. I tried new 5watt bulbs but nothing happened. Is the light beyond repair? (there are 10 different bulbs in the light)

Yes, transformer is toast. If it's seperate from the fitting it can be replaced otherwise whole light will need replacing.

The most likely reason is the low voltage transformer has gone..It is designed to run so many lamps at so many watts. It would overload if wattage is exceeded.it may say on it 50va..this means that it can run up to 5 10watt lamps only..Transformers are not too expensive to replace .Work should be carried out by Qualified person...Good luck.Ger
