Can I simply disable this alarm system as I am sick of throwing money at it ?

Please get serious!
You are asking a question about a CAR in a SOFTWARE, FTP Servers.
And no, this forum don't cover the onboard, hyper specialised, non-programable "computer" that you find in most cars...

My 97 Frontera remote entry fob wouldn't operate the central locking after I'd locked the doors and set the alarm the night before. I opened the driver door using the key but alarm went off when I opened the door. Remote control wouldn't stop it. I put a new battery in the remote control but it didn't make any difference. I had a brainwave and when the alarm went off again, I inserted the ign key and switched on & alarm stopped. I now drive the car and lock the doors manually with the key until I can find out how to fix it.

Apparently you cant I have had to disconnect the battery on my v reg petrol model. I will have to take it to main dealer with alarm going and prob so will you. Always had probs. However on the door columns there are sliding catches and if you clean them up the alarm will reset itself and stop going off - have not got these on my model
