My vaillant VCW GB 282 EH boiler failed to heat raditors but hot water supply seems to be working. I found it extremely hard from yellow pages who can come and fix this problem(s).
One engineer from a reputable firm came and messed with a
screw driver and failed to mend properly. I dont know whether
this is a ploy to fleece me with charges. Anyone having similar system and with same problem now or in the past and how this was solved may be useful trying to solve this daunting problems.

The reason you've had such a hard time finding someone to sort your boiler out is this boiler is very complicated, however my money is on the diverter valve, if not the small thin pipes leading to the diverter valve could be blocked up with cr*p, take off and rod through.

Id start by checking to see if the diverter valve is moving the micro switches on the bottom right hand side.
When at rest the bottom switch will be closed and the top switch open. When there is a demand for the heating, the valve will move the top microswitch in and make contact, thus continuing the sequence of operation.
