How can I fix my Epson CX5400 printer?

My Epson CX4500 given no problem over 3 years. Changed 2 cartridges last week and working OK. To-day with no warning, the printer does not recognise any of the cartridges. I cannot clean the nozzles or heads, because it thinks the cartridges are empty. Any thoughts anyone?

I had a similar problem with an epson c70, you said you recently changed ink refills. check the metal contacts in the refill carrier I damaged one of thease . I bent the contact then damaged it completely by being heavy handed. It's worth a look.

It is possible that your printer suction pipe has fallen off the carriage.
The only way to refit it is to completely remove from the outer casing and refit it from the underside, thJacken tie it with a twist or two of wire.
Also the ink jets can become blocked. I have this problem too!
Hence it is still on the bench!
Running the startup priming can quickly suck the ink from the cartridges as well. You could try resetting the cartridge chips with a resetting device, to give a full reading. Also make sure that the contacts are clean.
