can i find out what mother board i have?

Hi everyone...can anyone tell me if i can find out what my motherboard is and who makes it without opening the case? I would like to upgrade my computer but dont know what processor and memory limits my board has. I currently have an AMD K6 processor. Is this alrightish or is it a dinosaur?... please help.

The best way would be to open the case. But you can go to start>>run type in "dxdiag" this will give you some info about your PC and may be lucky enough to give you the model of your motherboard.

The AMD k6 is quite old- so may be worthwhile investing in a new PC after all
