I also have a glow worm 30cxi boiler and my heating has gone down! I still have hot water but rads wont come on, any ideas please :(

The F14 fault error I received was down to a blocked Heat Exchange plate. I had to get this replaced and it then worked fine. However 15 months down the line its playing up again with the same problems. Shocking boiler (new system lasted 15 months orginally until first error). I'm now in the market for a new boiler as this is the second time the heat exchange plate needs replacing in 3 years!

I have a Glow worm 30cxi and after 5 years of service it started to give trouble with the f14 fault and intermitant hot water. I have it insured with "Homeserve" who sent a service man to fix it; he fitted a cartridge diverter We thought all was well as we had hot water for 3/4 of an hour! I rang Homeserve who sent the service man out on the monday; he fitted a plate to plate heat exchanger now the boiler is fixed; thank goodness for insurance!

Please if you are going to do any of these repairs please please please do the following TURN OFF THE ELECTRIC SUPPLY TO THE BOILER.

Also by taking off the cover of the boiler white or silver you have commited a criminal offence unless you are gas safe registered. Please seek an engineer to carry out any repairs to a central heating system.

Thanks

The manual can be found at pdfdatabase.com/index.
This is a good site for all kinds of manuals

Richard,
According to the manual the description of an F14 fault is Central heating flow temperature is greater than 95 degrees C. The possible causes are System fault, possible pump failure, check Thermistor on flow.
Hope this helps and I would advise getting a copy of the manual.

Have moved and have no manual for my glow worm 30cxi and living on my own find it difficult to operate. I have tried the recommended webb site which you said for a manual but it appeared unavailable. Could you please tell me how |I can get a manual. I have needed to bleed my radiators and now I am getting a flashing light and they dont work. Many thanks. gastonjennifer@aol.com

Robert

I've had a very similar issue and think that I might have the answer for you...

F5 fault code ... if you've been adding rads to system or similar, then chances are you have introduced air into the boiler, which causes the thermistor to click off.

You need to take off the front panel (2 retaining screws underneath) and lift off. Then take off silver panel (remove retaining screws again). Top left hand side of innner workings of boiler is the overheat thermostat/reset switch. Two black plastic prongs sticking up with red button inbetween. Press down on red button - it should click. You have reset system.

Now restart boiler - turn central heating water temperature control dial (on LHS) to 0. Turn mains reset switch (RHS) to ON (1) position. Green light should come on and then go off. SYstem pressure should show on digital display. SHould read at least 0.7 bar.

Turn central heating dial (LHS) ON. The lighting sequence will begin, lamp will go green to show boiler has lit and you should be able to see the flame through the peep hole. Display should show system temp now rather than pressure.

Put the silver plate back on and then the front cover!

The manual can be found for 12/15/18/24/30/38hxi on the following web site: http://www.high-efficiency.info/images/hxi%20install.pdf

hope this helps
