dont listen to any1 u can buy a screen from a hightstreet shop for about £45 and unscrew the tv and change it yourself its easy peasy!

Yes, the screen is easily replaced. Hard thing is finding a company that will sell you a screen at a reasonable price...I have yet to find one that will do so.

Hun, if you want to get it repaired then they can be fixed for about 150.00. Which by my calculating is alot cheaper than having to go out and buy a bran new 42" tv. There are plenty of shops now to chose from and most give you a price b4 they even start the work. My sister just got hers replaced, all it is , is a screen underneath the actual border of the tv. I am sorry but the answers you have been given are a sad fact of life. The electronics of a modern TV are about 15% of its cost. The rest is the screen. You state that repair shops can get them, but again, what actually happens in the case of a major fault, the TV is replaced or repaired back at a central service department. There are few retail shops doing their own repairs now. I could make a good living repairing TVs a few years ago, but not any more.

Unfortunatly there isnt much you can do to repair a broken lcd or plasma tv. most of the time the repair will cost more then a new TV does. I'd recommend you go out and pick up a new tv and buy a screen protector for it. I got one from TV armor the other day and it works great. their website is

AFTER THE LCD PANEL GETS SMASHED OR CRACKED IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REPAIR AND REPLACING IS THE ONLY ANSWER UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS EXPENSIVE AND NORMALLY COSTS ABOUT THE SAME AS A NEW TV SO TRY AND ACQUIRE A FAULTY ONE OFF E BAY AND USE ITS SCREEN OR ALTERNATIVELY SELL YOURS ON EBAY IF YOUR NOT COMPETENT TO DO THE REPAIR YOURSELF SHOULD YOU GET A FAULTY SET THEN REMEMBER IT WILL COST YOU AT LEAST 1 - 2 HOURS OF TECHNICIANS TIME TO COMPLETE ON TOP OF THIS I PERSONALLY WOULD EXPECT AT LEAST 8 HOURS SOAK TEST BEFOR YOU GET IT BACK
