When I play a dvd on my audiovox d1700 it will play for a few seconds or minutes but then begin to skip and finally freeze up. what is causing this and what can i do to fix it.

yOU MAY NEED TO ADJUST THE LENS ITSELF,iT MAY HAVE MOVED AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POSTION IT WAS SET IN.

iF YOU TURN POWER OFF,TAKE OF THE COVER ,THEN EXPOSED THE LENS YOU SHOULD SEE A ADJUSTMENT SCREW FOR LENS,tHIS ADJUST THE HIEGHT AND ANGLE OF YOU D1700 LENS.iTS USUALLY ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE LENS,SO YOU SHOULD FIND IT ON THE SAME SIDE AS THE BACK OFF THE UNIT (WHERE ALL THE PLUGS ARE)ON THAT SIDE OF THE LENS.
yOU SHOULD SEE THAT IT HAS TWO OR THREE MARKS INDICATING HOW FAR YOU CAN TURN THAT SCREW WHICH WILL MOST LIKELY BE A PLASTIC SCREW EITHER WHITE OR ORANGE,GENTLE TURN IT CLOCK WISE ABOUT 2 TO 3 DEGREES AND REASSEMBLE CASE AND TRY.iF SCREW WONT TURN DONT TOUCH IT ,ITS THE WRONG SCREW LOOK AGAIN.iF YOU CANT FIND IT JUST SIMPLY BUY A REPLACEMENT LENS THEY ARE WAY EASIER TO TO FIT AND ARE ALREADY PRESET.

it does this with any dvd. I purchased a dvd cleaning disk but now it seems as though the dvd player has a hard time reading the dvd
