Yes, the batteries can be replaced if you have some basic do it yourself skills. First snap off the shaving head. There are three screws that hold the case together. The one you see, The next one is under the button that pops out the trimmer. while the trimmer is open, take a small screwdriver and disengage the trimmer opening fork from the trimmer by pulling outward on both sides of the black plastic "fork". The third screw is hidden under the trimmer head. Carefully pry the trimmer out from the shaver using the small screwdriver. Remove the final screw. The batteries are held in by a small metal strap. There is a thermal device glued to one of the batteries. carefully slide a knife under it to remove it from the battery. Pry the batteries out of the holder and, using small needle nose pliers, remove the stainless straps from the batteries. Now the surprising part! get two high capacity AA rechargable batteries (ask your knowlegable retailer) and place them in the battery holder using the stainless straps removed from the old batteries to complete the circuit by jamming them under the ends of each battery. Make sure the positive battery terminal is connected to the red wire but you already know that : ) Glue the thermal switch back on the battery. Put the case back together with the one screw (it is the one with the shoulder instead of all thread) and test the shaver. You may have to plug it in for a while. If everything is OK, remove the case again and, using a hot glue gun, put a drop or two on each end of the batteries to make sure the stainless straps do not get loose. re-assemble and your shaver should be good as new.
