How can I fix a silk dress?

I have a black Anna Sui silk dress that ripped on the seam under my arm, but looks like it almost ran, like stocking...Can I just sew it up?

i would recomend binding both edges before sewing,then sew seam. or trim any fray off,sew wrong sides together,trim again,then sew right sides to make a french seam,giving double strength to seam
