Singer 3515 - not stitching - new gear and re-timing?

Material became caught under foot / in bobbin case and was pulled out. The gear under the bobbin mechanism on the vertical shaft has a couple of teeth slightly bent - is this the cause and if so how can I change it and reset the timing?

If the vertical gear is damaged you will need to change it otherwise it will ruin the other gear, you will need to retime afterwards, quite simple to change and the gears are quite cheap, oif you are in the US www.tandtrepair.com will help you out with the gears, when you are ready to retime it e-mail me drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk and I will send instructions on an attachment.
