Our washing macine is not pumping out the water, I think the pump has broken as it started making a grinding noise before it stopped, so how do I remove the water from the machine, If I can locate a new pump I should be able to fix it, I have phoned up repair companys but seem to be shut for christmas.

turn off power and water supplies to machine get yourself a washing up bowl place drain hose in the bowl lower bowl down to floor water should flow by Gravity (you will have to empty bowl a few times) to stop water flow raise drain hose. When empty remove pump and also check if (sump filter black concertina hose in middle of base of outer drum blocked with fluff or sock) does impeller turn on pump if not replace with a new pump.
