My Medion 19" monitor goes white or won't switch on?

I have a 19" flat screen monitor and when I reactivate after hibernation, the blue light flashes and nothing happens, or after several switch/switch offs I get a picture which then fades to white, I then switch on and off several more time and on it comes - perfect. Is this the monitor or the PC

My moniter does the something. My uncle insisted that it was caused by viruses and recommended me to do a virus scan which I did so many times since the start of the problem.
And guess what? my moniter is only 2 years old. If eventually this thing breaks down, I just gonna go ahead to buy a new one. I dun even know whether my monitor is out of warranty or not ?__?

I have found this answer on another website...
Kris;
This is common with LCD monitors, as they age the matrix can fail. This is not a problem with the LCD it's self, but the circuit that drives it. Most units fail like this after six or seven years. I would recommend contacting dell, since the unit may still be under warranty. If not you may be lucky and have a repair center in your area, that will handle a LCD unit. If so the repair should run around $75.00 to $90.00. At that price you might consider the repair, over that I would replace the unit, since you can get the same size or larger for around $200.00 in LCD and $175.00 in a CRT monitor.

Good luck;
Phill

I have the same problem. But not with the same make of monitor. When it turns on it immediately fades to white, then after a few goes of it doing this it comes back on and stays on.
I have ruled out the computer graphics card because there are two separate computers linked to the monitor and the screen goes to white with both in the same way.
