My tv has horizontal lines in it when I turn it on. It clears after 20 min?

When I first turn on my tv it has horizontal line on it. After about 20 minutes it'll clear up. What can I do to fix it. Someone told me I just need to replace the transformer. But I have no idea what that is. Please help. It's a Mitsubishi brand tv. It's a 50" screen, probably about 8 years old.

oops silly me I read your complaint wrong. It could still be a faulty vertical output i.c but more likely a capacitor that has dried up/changed value within the vertical output circuit which isn't bad after 8 years.

It sounds like a bad solder joint on the scan coils plug/socket or the frame/vertical output integrated circuit and this would be first course of action to check. Sorry can't be more specific.
