A video cassette inside my combination TV-VCR-DVD player?

A videocassette is stuck inside my combination TV-VCR-DVD player. As a result no other function of the set will work. It is a Sylvania MTS/SAP. I am willing to break the VCR part of the set to get the tape out if it will result in a working TV. Is that possible? Thanks.

On the cassette frame, right hand side, you will see a drive wheel[cog]Turn this with your thumb, away from you.Slowly the cassette which is stuck will come forward, then you can take it out without doing any damage. If it does not work by turning cog away from you ,try doing it towards you.But I know this works as repaired them at college.

I would be very careful here. Many TV/VCR combos share an internal PSU. There could easily be a problem with the TV which also stops the VCR working, hence the jammed cassette.
See if any smaller local repair services offer free estimates.
