Removing plastic valve shut off caps from old radiators?

I am trying to remove the plastic valve shut off caps from my old cast iron radiators. My problem is that each valve cap is held in place by what looks like a metal cap/rod with small holes on each side keeping the cap in place. (The newer type have a screw) Do I need a special tool to remove this securing screw and how is it achieved.

Thanks

You need a special security type tool that fits into this particular screw.....tool factors do a variety of this bits in a set. Or, you could maybe tap the screw round with a fine centre punch and hammer, if your luck is in.
