More than likely, the motor coupler is busted. This has been very common on my Kenmore Series 80 washing machine.

It is likely the result of washing too large of a load - continuously. The coupler is a plastic piece that resembles a football tee. There are two plastic pieces and a black round piece rubbery/plastic material that makes the two work together.

Here is how to access it:

Turn the mashing machine on it's back. Pull the clips off the water "turbo" (two hoses connected to it at the motor). Then use a 1/4" socket to remove the two screws that secure the motor clips. Remove the clips.

The motor should be able to be removed at this point. Remove the motor - you are now looking at the motor coupler - you will know it when you see it.

This is an easy fix-it-yourself repair. The part from SEARS is only about $12 - $13......

Good Luck -

If this doesn't fix it, then you are in the same boat I am in. Mine will spin when there is no load, but as soon as I throw even a towek in mine, it will not spin at all. I can take my hand and spin it and it will work....but not on it's on.

I am assuming that themotor is gone now - I have replaced the motor coupler three times on min andthat is not the problem this time.
