wow thats a little negative sean! ok some more ideas:

1. try another keyboard! if your old keyboard has got a fault (even a stuck key) it could cause the problem.

2. is this a USB keyboard? not all bios'es see them "AS DEFAULT" you'll need a ps2 keyboard (or if it's really old AT Keyboard) and change the USB keyboard option in the bios.

3. as above it's possible to turn off usb support for keyboards off in the bios have you fiddled with it recently? if you really can't get access to another ps2/at keyboard to alter the settings then reset your bios as most modern bios'es enable usb keyboards by default.

4. if the keyboard is ps2 or at then get a usb keyboard it might work and it'll cost as little as 3 quid for a usb keybaord online!

5. kick it. good luck:)

Change the keyboard (try a friend's)

if that fails then get some electrical contact cleaner and spray it up the keyboard socket (machine turned off) then wait a good while until the cleaner flashes off completely.

If this fails then your keyboard controller is goosed and you will have to change your motherboard.
